I work as a book and fiber artist, sometimes combining the two. I received my MFA with a specialty in Book Arts from the University of Alabama where I learned all the traditional techniques for creating books. These include letterpress printing, hand papermaking, fine binding and paper decoration techniques (watercolor marbling, suminagashi and pastepapers. I make my books from beginning to end incorporating the skills that I have been practicing for many years, from the handmade textblock paper to the decorated content and covers to the quality of using traditional binding techniques that no one else is doing. I am interested in working with color, texture and design and am complimented on the quality and design of my books. My papers and books stand out because they are so different. My having control over all the aspects lends a strong personal touch to my work.
