FIND IT
Greensboro Cultural Center

Hosted in the Greensboro Cultural Center and presented in partnership with Creative Greensboro, this folklife area celebrates dance as both an expressive tradition and a crafted art form.

THE THEME

Dance!

Beyond steps and patterns, dance serves as a powerful form of storytelling, identity, and connection, bringing communities together across generations, geographies, and cultures. By highlighting both the living practice of movement, and the crafts that support it (costumes, shoes, instruments, and other material traditions), this area celebrates dance as a force for cultural preservation, social cohesion, and joyful, shared experience.

WHAT TO EXPECT

Highlights

Performances, workshops, and storytelling sessions take place in the Van Dyke Performance Space on the first floor, where tradition bearers and culture keepers invite audiences to experience movement, learn steps, and hear the stories behind diverse dance forms.
Throughout the building's atriums on the first and second floors, visitors can explore the craft behind dance through demonstrations of shoemaking, regalia and costume work, instrument building, and other material traditions that support dancers and their communities.
