About the North Carolina Folk Festival

The North Carolina Folk Festival is a free, annual celebration of traditional arts, music, dance, and food held in downtown Greensboro, North Carolina. Since 2018, the festival has welcomed hundreds of thousands of visitors to experience the rich cultural heritage of our state and beyond.

Our Mission

The North Carolina Folk Festival is a nonprofit organization (501c3) that honors, celebrates, and shares the meaningful ways communities express their creativity and cultural traditions through music, dance, food, crafts and other folk arts to enhance appreciation of diverse traditions and contribute to community vibrancy and inclusivity.

The NC Folk Festival grew out of the National Folk Festival, which was held in Greensboro from 2015 to 2017. When the National Folk Festival moved on, the community came together to create a locally-produced successor that would continue the tradition.
